Game DayThis is why you joined the Marines in the first place – to fly and fight! Game sessionsSeveral game options are available to VMF-124 aviators: - Squadron sessions are held every Saturday at 2100 Eastern Time (USA)
- Training sessions are held every Tuesday at 2100 Eastern Time (USA) or 2100 Pacific Time (USA)
- Midweek missions can held anytime during the week
Squadron sessions
- The main event each week is the squadron session. This is where the whole outfit gathers for missions, with as many as twenty aviators in the air at one time. We usually fly three or four co-ops. Beforehand, we'll often fly for half an hour or so in dogfight mode, just to loosen up. The entire session lasts for three or four hours. Most of the missions will count toward our ongoing campaign statistics. After the session, you might want to submit after-action reports on the VMF-124 message board.
Training sessions
- Every week, we try to hold a session devoted to improving our teamwork. We'll run drills and exercises dedicated to sharpening tactics and communications, flying against AI bandits or VMF-124 aggressors in enemy aircraft. We'll also practice procedures like air-traffic control and carrier operations. It's a good chance to learn by making mistakes. None of the combat results count toward our ongoing campaign. Carrier landings do count toward your fleet qualifications, however. Training sessions are by no means mandatory, but most of us enjoy them.
Midweek missions
- Think of midweek missions as pickup games. Two or more VMF-124 aviators decide to fly a co-op together during the week, hosted on one of their own machines. A library of smaller missions are available for download in the squadron mission repository. These are informal affairs, but if you submit an after-action report on the squadron message board, the results will count toward your ongoing campaign totals.
