Campaign Guidelines

Most VMF-124 missions count towards an ongoing campaign.

Campaigns are sets of missions that portray VMF-124 operations during a specific time period in a given theater. These missions may be dynamically generated by a campaign engine, or built by hand.

During a campaign, VMF-124 aviators may accumulate several personal statistics, including:

  • Victories over enemy aircraft
  • Destroyed ground or sea targets
  • Decorations
  • Sorties flown
  • Flight hours in an aircraft type

Confirmation of destroyed enemy aircraft and targets

PF's game engine often mistakes credit for destroyed enemy aircraft or targets. In order to receive credit, another VMF-124 aviator must confirm your success. Confirmation is most often contained in after-action reports posted on the squadron message board.

Victory totals and kill streaks

Inevitably, VMF-124 aviators are "killed" or captured during virtual missions. Don't worry, though – unlike real life, our casualties are temporary. You get to fly the next mission. However, your victories are treated as two separate tallies:

  • Kill streaks count victories since your last "death" or capture
  • Victory totals record all of your kills in every campaign you've flown, ignoring casualties

If you wish to paint kill markings on your aircraft, you should only display your current kill streak.

Decorations

Decorations are recommended by your fellow aviators to recognize combat performance, contributions to the squadron, and heroism. The CO reviews all recommendations. Approved recommendations are forwarded to our parent Marine Air Group (MAG) for confirmation. Unlike victories, your decorations never "reset" – they are permanent awards.
